My paintings portray babies as a representation of an innocent state of mind living through sensations without ideas or concepts. The absence of guardians is an allegory of post colonial dependency and neglect.
The juxtaposition of flatness associated with folk art and western traditional rendering suggest a constant conflict. The distinct styles never feel completely integrated but rather reflect the inevitable tension that results in the attempt to unify difference.
